Japanese culture:
Early Japanese culture was
influenced heavily by China. During the Edo era, japan had a strict isolation
policy, not participating in relationships with the outside world. This created
japans distinct culture and aesthetics. Japanese culture has lots if different interesting aspects, both traditional and
modern, from, architecture and performing arts to fashion and anime. Japanese
culture is immersed in a history and traditions going back thousands of years,
on the other Japanese culture is one that s constantly changing and adapting to
new technologies and designing for the future.
Wabi-sabi:
In tradition Japanese
aesthetics, Wabi-sabi is Japanese view of the acceptance of imperfection in
relation to creations. The aesthetics characteristics include roughness,
simplicity, modesty, intimacy and involving natural objects and processes. Richard Powell believes "Wabi-sabi
nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing
lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect."
